Your A/C system will naturally lose up to 15% of its gas every year, so all systems will require a recharge over time. It is also recommended that you recharge your air con annually after your vehicle reaches 2yrs of age. WV Autotech Ltd can provide an air con re-gas service for vehicles using both the R134a (old) and R1234yf (new) air conditioning gas. Your vehicle handbook will identify which air con gas your vehicle uses, but as a general rule, most vehicles registered before 1st January 2017 will take R134a (old) gas and vehicles registered after January 2017 will take the newer R1234yf gas.

THE RECHARGE PROCESS
The recharge process is very simple and involves removing any old refrigerant gas from your air con system before replacing this with the correct amount of new refrigerant as per your vehicle manufacturer’s recommendations. A liquid hydrogen test is then performed to ensure there are no cracks or damage in your vehicle air conditioning system that could cause the gas to leak. Within an hour the whole recharge process is completed and you will have refreshing, clean cool air on demand.
CAN USING AIR CON USE MORE FUEL
The answer is yes it does, marginally. However, if you were to open your windows instead of turning on your air con, that would increase your wind resistance which could mean you’d use up to 10% more fuel and it isn’t as effective in keeping you as cool either!
